About Us
Transit Mix Concrete Co. is a subsidiary of Continental Materials Corporation, Chicago, Illinois. We have proudly served Southern Colorado with ready-mix concrete and aggregate since 1945. Safety, Quality and Service are the commitments our customers have come to expect in the seven decades we have been in business.
Transit Mix has a portable plant and four fixed batch plants in Colorado Springs and two fixed batch plants in Pueblo, all strategically located and capable of handling placement quantities of one cubic yard to as many as 65,000 cubic yards. All of our batch plants and our fleet are NRMCA certified.
Aggregate Pits
We own and operate three aggregate pits along the Arkansas River:
- Grisenti Aggregate Pit in Fremont County
- Transit Mix of Pueblo Aggregate Pit in Pueblo
- Hydro-Sizer Sand Plant and Industrial Sand Plant in Colorado Springs
Quarries
We also own and operate three quarries in Southern Colorado:
- Pikeview Quarry in Colorado Springs
- Black Canyon Quarry in Colorado Springs – In Reclamation Phase
- Canon City Limestone Quarry near the Royal Gorge
The Transit Mix Concrete Materials Laboratory is validated by the U.S. Department of the Army Corps of Engineers and has been since 1996. Certification by the COE includes 53 materials tests in Aggregate, Concrete, Masonry, Mortar, Grout and Soils.
Our Quality Control Department has eight full time certified technicians and is regularly inspected by CCRL. The Quality Control Department participates in proficiencies programs for all applicable test standards.
We have a well-stocked construction materials division which includes fabricated rebar as well as other items to supply any of your future projects.
